My Fave Bloggers

In the past year or so I have really gotten into reading blogs. Beauty, nails, lifestyle, weight loss... Even babies! I just love reading reviews or cute posts about what people are up to or what they are loving. It makes a change to read something that you know is the truth!

Some of the blogs that I love:

Zoella
Sprinkle of Glitter
milkteef
Pretty Little Obsessions
The Nailasaurus
MB Motivation
Lady Smart

These are just a few of the many that I read, but I must say that these are my favourites. They are interesting, frequently updated and really useful!

Don't you just hate it when a blogger doesn't update for months? 🙈 (I'm so sorry to be one of these bloggers - school has taken over my life.

FACT: I love school but CANNOT be bothered for the work that comes with it.

What are your fave blogs?

Weight

I hate that word. Weight. How much do you weigh? What's your weight? How much weight have you put on? I HATE IT.

I hate it because I am slightly bigger than my friends. Now I know I'm not obese and huge, but I'm chubby. My thighs are big and my tummy isn't completely flat. Over my holiday I put on a couple of pounds and it's made me really upset.

So.

I have decided to lose it. I want to lose "weight". I'm not going to be dieting drastically and only eating lettuce leaves for a few weeks, but I am going to cut down on bad things.

No crisps
No chocolate
No ice cream
No biscuits
Reduced carbs
Increased water

Thats my plan. I have just downloaded an app that will help me with keeping track of what I'm eating. Everyday I have to input what I've eaten that day and then it adds up the calories and tracks my progress.

I hope that I stick to it because I'm starting to feel bad about myself. With all of these thigh gaps being flaunted around it makes me feels like a lump of lard.

Sorry it's been a ranty/miserable one.

Keep peachy,

The World

I have always been fascinated by the world. Different countries, travelling, cultures - I love it. I mean my first holiday was when I was six months old to New York, so I started young (FACT).

Now the point of this blog post is to say how excited I am by the fact that people from all over the world are reading this. I love the fact that somebody from Pakistan, Taiwan, Germany, The Netherlands, U.S.A, Russia and even my home country, The United Kingdom, is reading this. Most of these countries I have never been to and have only seen on TV. It astounds me that people who don't even speak the same language as me are looking at this blog.

I just want to say thank you, and welcome to my blog, whether you are from the country that I live in, or one that is on the other side of the world from me. Just thank you

Speaking of travel, I am off on holiday for the next week so I will not be able to post until the week after next. I'm sorry!

Keep peachy,

Pale & Interesting

Today's blog post will be part beauty, part lifestyle. Thought I'd mix it up a bit!

Now, I have struggled with finding make-up that won't make me look like an Oompa Loompa since I started wearing it a couple of years ago. I (my mum) ended up having to buy £30 Dior Nude in the lightest shade possible. All of the drugstore foundations are just slightly to dark for my skin tone and it annoys me an incredible amount. Although I can get away with Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in summer when I get a bit more colour in my face, it still needs to be in the lightest shade.
Ivory, porcelain and very light. All. I. Ever. Have. To. Look. For.

Of course I don't mind my pale skin, in fact I love it. I don't use fake tan and I don't sit and sunbathe for hours trying to tan, I just stay with my own skin. I don't tan anyway, ever, I just burn. I always hear people saying "oh I'm too pale, I need a fake tan.,. How do you deal with being so pale?". I don't 'deal' with it, I just live with it. Where does it come from? My parents: Irish/Scottish mum and Welsh dad creates a Celtic stereotype. I have very pale skin and dark hair (FACT).

I guess I just wanted to say that it's ok to be pale and you don't have to feel pressurised into using orange fake tan or sitting outside and damaging your skin. Research says that you are meant to reach 16 years old without having any tan lines to reduce the risk of skin cancer. Beauty is not about what colour your skin is whether beautifully pale or beautifully dark, it is about the confidence you have to work it and what you are like on the inside. Incredibly cliché, but there you go.

And also, just a wee (my Scottish roots coming through there) reminder to look after your skin. You should be wearing sun cream or SPF everyday to protect it whether you tan quickly or burn quickly. With 32 degree Celsius weather in England tomorrow,  it would be a good idea.

Keep peachy (and sun-safe)

For the Love of Beauty

Last week I went shopping with a few friends in town and of course had to pop into the local Boots. Within my friendship group I am known for never being able to leave this heavenly shop without spending some money. I guess I just love make-up and beauty too much. I had my eye on a few things and I decided to splash out and get them. I do spend most of my money on beauty and make-up products and I'm starting to build up a good collection. So here you go, four of my favourite buys from last week's shopping (I did buy lots more, but thought the post would become slightly tedious and boring if I listed all).

By the way, I used my iPad to take the pictures as my camera is in the shop getting fixed, so sorry for the bad quality and spacing!

Here's what I got :

  • Real Techniques Blush Brush
  • "Woodwinked" MAC Eyeshadow
  • Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint in "Blue Grape"
  • Soap & Glory Lid Stuff  Pallette in "What's Nude"

I'll start with the brush. Now I'm sure you have heard of Real Techniques and Sam Chapman, who is the talented lady who created them, and if you don't then please research them because they are both absolutely incredible. The brushes are made out of synthetic bristles which are so soft and easy to clean. I have the Core Collection and now this blush brush and there is no doubt that I will be buying more in the very near future. They are all so versatile and easy to use, giving your face an almost air-brushed look.
Real Techniques Blush Brush - £9.99
The brush that I got the other day was the blush brush and I have used it everyday since. However, I don't use it for my blusher as I am quite happy with the blush brush that I have at the moment, but I do use it to powder my face. It is the perfect size to reach the places where the powder is needed without making my make-up look 'caked' on. I use it around my T-Zone, under my eyes and over my eyes, or the places that look the oiliest. At £9.99, it is a brilliant price for what you are paying for and I highly advise you to get one.

Next to the MAC Eyeshadow in "Woodwinked". Now, before you rejoice about the fact that there are MAC counters in Boots - there aren't. I got this at my local MAC shop on the same day and thought I would write about it as, for me, this is such a momentous occasion.

MAC Eyeshadow in "Woodwinked" - £12.50

Woodwinked is the most incredible eyeshadow and probably one of the best selling colours. MAC describes the shade as "warm antique gold" and I would say I agree, however it has slightly more of a brown tone than gold. When blended out on the lid it turns into a gorgeous bronzey, coppery, goldy colour that suits all eye colours and all skin colours.

I have been looking at this shadow for a while and I did have reservations about whether it would suit my blue eyes (FACT OF THE BLOG POST), but it ABSOLUTELY does! It particularly suits blue eyes due to the coppery colour. The shade is perfect for both day and night so I truly advise you to get it. I am more a fuss free make-upper and by no means am I a guru at it, so when something as simple as putting a colour on your lid and blending out without having any complicated techniques is put in front of me, it appeals to me greatly. With a £12.50 price tag, this was a slightly bigger investment for me, especially as a 15 year old, but I recommend it. This is my first MAC eyeshadow and I think it is the perfect one, particularly for a beginner like me, as it is so easy to use and incredibly versatile.

Onto the nail polish. Firstly, I am going to say that I have an OBSESSION with nail polish and I have loads. I probably buy one or two a week. When the Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paints came out I fell in love, not only with the beautiful colours nor the affordable £3.99 price, but the lovely thick consistency of the polish itself.

Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Pain in "Blue Grape" - £3.99

I have worn this polish everyday since I got it. The colour is so gorgeous and summery and I have had so many compliments. It stayed on for a good four days (with using both a top and bottom coat) and the shine lasted with it. At such a low price there is no point taking another thought about whether to buy it or not. Well done Mr Barry M!

Lastly, I bought the Soap & Glory Lid Stuff Palette in "What's Nude". This was an impulse buy and to be honest I don't regret it. I'm just starting to enter the world of eyeshadow and the MAC shades have been on my mind, as well as the price tag, so when I saw this palette it seemed perfect and so far it more or less is.

Soap & Glory Lid Stuff Palette in "What's Nude" - £10

I was looking for a dupe for Satin Taupe by MAC and I think that I have found it in this palette. It is an eyeshadow quad with the colours "Vanilla", "Pink T", "Mud Honey" and "Aubersheen".

"Vanilla" is a matte, creamy coloured shade that is perfect for the inner corners of the eye, under the eyebrows on the brow bone or just as a base.

"Pink T" is another matte colour, but this time in a pale pink. I use it as an overall lid shadow and it gives the perfect and subtle look that can be left as is or jazzed up a bit with a darker shade, making it brilliant for a simple day look and gorgeous night look.

"Mud Honey" is, like the last two, matte and it is a dark brown colour that is great for creating a smokier eye. Just add some to your contour and blend. PERFECT. It can also be used to shade your eyebrows if you have dark hair, like me (WOAH ANOTHER FACT RIGHT THERE).

"Aubersheen" A.K.A Satin Taupe dupe. This shimmery colour makes the simple and subtle matte smokey eye that the other shadows create POP. This shade is similar to "Mud Honey", however it has a more reddy tone to it and is obviously shimmery. I hope you like how I'm adding a 'y' to the end of words.

These four shadows have such a lovely, soft formula that is so easy to blend. Although it is not highly pigmented, for a beginner it creates a great subtle look that won't look too scary and with the price at £10.00 it won't break the bank, especially when you are getting four good eyeshadows.

SO

That is that. I'm sorry that this has been such a long one, I wasn't expecting it to be, but the four products that I bought are brilliant and I really would recommend all of them.

Hopefully it has been helpful!

Keep peachy,

Home

Two blog posts in one day - how crazy. I guess I've got the writing bug.

I was trying to think about what to write. I don't want this blog to be full of boring and useless blog posts, I mean I wouldn't read them if I had the choice, so why would you?! This isn't going to be a useful one, but perhaps it will be interesting.

I've decided that in each blog post I am going to give away a fact about myself, whether it be where I live or something about my personality.

Today it's where I live, or the country at least.

If you haven't realised by the language I use, I'm from England. I live right-slap-bang on the south coast of England about five minutes from the beach. The place I call home is the most beautiful place on Earth and I am so grateful that I live here. The thing I love the most is going for a walk along the beach, past all the tourists and the ice cream shops and to the part where visitors don't tend to venture into. It is the most peaceful part of the coastline where I live.

I don't say I'm English because my parents aren't English, but I was born in England. I'd say I'm British, but that's another story for another blog post.

Thank you to anyone who reads this,

P.S. I will try and get some pictures on here to jazz it up a bit. I'm new to this, bear with me!

The Start

So hello.

Hello to this new blog. Hello to anybody who may read it. Hello to trying something new.

I would never have done something like this a year ago, but after reading blogs and watching YouTube videos I have decided to do it. To do something out of my comfort zone, if you will.

I'm 15 years old and, as you can probably tell, I'm a girl. I've decided not to tell you my name or where I come from because I don't think that should effect on whether you decide to read a blog or not. To anybody who does read this I am Girl With A Blog. Maybe one day I will tell you my name, but for now I shall use this nickname.

This blog will not be about anything in particular, perhaps a bit of lifestyle, perhaps a bit of beauty. What I will write about on this blog will be whatever I feel I need to tell the world about or maybe what I need to get off of my chest, whether it be a new mascara that has been sent from the heavens or a looming exam that is scaring me.

So hello, again, to the blog that might not get any readers and might remain completely unknown, but will be a place for me to write anonymously.

Even if there is only one reader - thank you.

Talk again soon,

Girl With A Blog
